Chris came from the adult LEGO fan community, and even before joining the LEGO Company, he was known as a master of complex geometric shapes (you might remember his LEGO Christmas tree decorations that we covered several times).Ĭhris’ expertise with building geometric shapes is evident in the flowerpot that comes with the Bird of Paradise set. The instruction book is 80 pages long and gives a bit of information about the original flowering plant and Chris McVeigh, the LEGO designer who worked on this set.

Of course, LEGO sets are not about the box but the content and the building experience, but still, a well-designed and attractive box can make a difference in how a set is viewed by consumers. The large dark-green leaves and black flowerpot are hard to distinguish from the black background, and the three flowers are relatively small and are overpowered by all the dark colors. The black box worked pretty well for the colorful #10280 LEGO Creator Flower Bouquet and the strikingly beautiful #10281 LEGO Creator Bonsai Tree, but I feel it doesn’t work as well for the #10289 LEGO Creator Bird of Paradise. This presentation clearly separates the adult-oriented sets from sets meant for kids, however it doesn’t always work well in showcasing the strong features of a particular set. Just like all the 18+ sets meant for adult builders, including the two earlier LEGO Botanical sets, the #10289 LEGO Creator Bird of Paradise comes in a minimalist black box. Please note that this set won’t be released in North America until August, but it is already available in other countries. We already reviewed the #10280 LEGO Creator Flower Bouquet and the #10281 LEGO Creator Bonsai Tree (see links at the end of this post), and today, we will discuss the #10289 LEGO Creator Bird of Paradise in detail. This revolutionary collection uses elements made from a plant-based plastic, produced using sustainably sourced sugarcane. The #10289 LEGO Creator Bird of Paradise is the third and largest set in the highly popular LEGO Botanical Collection. The LEGO® Wild Leeks set is part of the LEGO Vegetable Collection.LEGO® fans will love discovering a completely new way to build as they explore the unexpected shapes and colors in this Wild Leeks building set.Display as if they were freshly picked from the ground or chopped up and ready to eat to create an eye-catching feature for the kitchen or office.

It also makes a great birthday present or anytime gift for vegetable lovers or those who enjoy creative projects.

As you can see from the box these new sets will follow the unique style introduced with the LEGO Bonsai Tree and Flower Bouquet, with this new set expected to launch later in the year.Īdded to a tasty pie or part of a wholesome roast, if you’re looking for a vegetable-based gift with a difference, LEGO® Wild Leeks (10421) is an inspired choice. The first of which appears to be set 10421: Wild Leeks. You’ll soon be able to play with your food as the Vegetable Collection will see a number of farm-fresh treats transformed into brick-built versions. An early look at a future set in this popular new line has leaked via Welsh retailer Ffyliaid Ebrill, which shows a tasty off-shoot for the adult-focused range. So here’s an interesting new addition to the LEGO® Botanical Collection. As a recognised media outlet I don’t normally share leaks here on BricksFanz but I’ve decided if you can’t beat them, join them.
